PRLog (Press Release)Jul 01, 2011 – The first 24 hours of operation of new website, InfoSec Reviews, dedicated to providing professional reviews of the Information Security marketplace, saw the website almost crash as security professionals flocked to the site to sign up. John Hughes, InfoSec Reviews CEO said, “I think the point that has struck home with most of our subscribers is that this is not just about the reviews, it’s about the power of the community’s voice, and what that can say back to a vendor. If a book gets a bad review on Amazon, it doesn’t mean much to the publisher or the author, as we don’t tend to know the reviewer from Adam. However, a bad review on our site, where the credentials of the reviewer are solid, and they have happily put their real name to it, sends a real message. Similarly, if an author receives 5 stars, then they have done a truly exceptional job and deserve credit and sales to match. If this kind of professional reviewing can convince publishers to go that extra mile and authors to add that extra detail that makes their book really sing, then we’ve done our job and the industry will benefit as a whole.”

The last 24 hours has seen the website receive over 4000 unique visitors from 32 different countries around the world, something that was quite unexpected at such an early stage of a new start-up. “We’re not exactly Twitter or Facebook yet,” said Hughes, “but if this momentum can be sustained, who knows where we’ll be in a couple of years.”
